SwissStop Disc RS
Silent Power. Swiss Precision.
The Disc RS is defined by its ultra-thin, high-performance profile. At only 1.6mm thick, the steel backplate is thinner than standard pads, allowing for a thicker layer of SwissStop’s proprietary organic compound. This results in a pad that stays quiet in both wet and dry conditions, provides a "snappy" lever feel, and offers incredible longevity. It is the pad of choice for riders who are tired of the "brake howl" common with metallic compounds but still need serious bite for aggressive riding.
Why the Disc RS is the Performance Standard:
-
Whisper-Quiet Operation: The RS compound is engineered to be virtually silent. It eliminates the high-frequency vibrations that cause brake squeal, providing a peaceful ride even during heavy, sustained braking.
-
Smooth & Predictable Feel: Experience a linear relationship between lever pull and braking force. There is no "on/off" grabby sensation; just smooth, powerful modulation that gives you total control over your traction.
-
Superior Heat Management: Despite being an organic-based compound, the Disc RS handles high temperatures with ease. The thin backplate and specialized resin prevent heat fade, ensuring consistent performance from the top of the mountain to the bottom.
-
All-Weather Reliability: Unlike many organic pads that struggle in the rain, the Disc RS maintains its friction coefficient in wet conditions, offering a level of security usually reserved for noisy metallic pads.
-
Rotor-Friendly Compound: The softer organic material is much kinder to your rotors than sintered or semi-metallic pads, significantly extending the life of your expensive Sram CenterLine XR or Shimano Dura-Ace rotors.
-
Ultra-Thin 1.6mm Backplate: The lightweight steel backplate saves weight and provides more room for friction material, meaning you get more miles out of every set.

The Alegro Perspective: In our service centre, we consider the Disc RS a "problem solver." If a customer comes in with a high-end bike that has annoying brake noise, this is the first thing we install. It’s one of those rare upgrades where you can actually feel the difference in the first ten feet of your ride. It makes your bike feel more expensive, more refined, and significantly safer.
